Nippon Kodo's Oedo-Koh Japanese Incense Collection is inspired by the Edo period of Japanese history which lasted from the 1600's to the 1800's. This era is famous for 'Iki' an urban culture of 'dandyism' that emerged to celebrate a minimalist approach to life that embraced thoughtfulness. The incense was created by master incense artisans from modern Tokyo, using fragrance to represent a range of Edo-inspired scenes- The Peony Tree scent is said by the Japanese to invoke a feeling of elation and great happiness

- The Peony Tree scent is reminiscent of the Oiran - an exclusive group of Geisha in the Hanamachi Geisha Quarter back in the Edo period. The Oiran wore these scent as it was said to match the unparalleled beauty of this group of Geisha

- Beautifully finished in a wooden box with sliding cardboard case
